Get involved!

Language is identity. It is part of Country. It is sacred. It is one of the most important parts of the work we do today towards reconciliation, healing, and self-determination.

There are several ways you can get involved in supporting us on our journey:

Become a language ally!

Donate to our Language Industry Fund (see below) to support our language work and get access to language materials for your organisation or business.

Support a naming project!

Help get Bunurong language out on Country and support us financially through a naming project, where Elders share a name in Bunurong language for your project, building, or organisation.

Spread the word!

Educate others about the challenges and importance of reawakening language. Start the conversation!

LANGUAGE INDUSTRY FUND

The Ngiyamak Bunwurrung (Wake Up Bunurong!) Language Industry Fund is an opportunity for local businesses, community organisations, and individuals to support our language work. Donations to the fund directly support our efforts to reawaken Bunurong language. This fund goes towards:

  • Community language workshops to teach and share language knowledge.
  • Training for Bunurong community in language teaching and research.
  • Research reconstructing Bunurong language from 19th century sources.
  • Finding and acquiring previously unknown records of Bunurong language.
  • Producing educational materials to teach Bunurong language.
  • Ongoing community engagement in language reconstruction.

In recognition for your support, donors receive material to advertise their support of the Bunurong language revitalisation project:

  • An official letter of recognition of support from a Bunurong Elder.
  • A language ally e-mail and website banner for your organisation.
  • A display poster for your workplace.
  • Your organisation’s name listed as a Language Ally on our homepage.
  • Organisations who provide regular, on-going support will also receive language educational materials to share Bunurong with staff.

Join us on our language journey! Your support is a vital part of ongoing reconciliation and self-determination.
